چکیده
Abstract Staphylococcus haemolyticus is a normal inhabitant of healthy skin and also an emerging cause nosocomial infections in the immunocompromised. S. often lead to bacteremia, septicemia, peritonitis, endocarditis various other outcomes. The goal this project was establish invertebrate infection model for studying innate immune response using wax moth larva (Galleria mellonella). We have found that injecting worm larvae with 10 6to 7cfu/μL consistently induced rapid larval death within 24 hours at higher dose range. characterized general histopathological changes associated started characterize as well hemocyte haemolyticus. Our findings support usefulness initial screening tool systemic microbial infections. Supported by grants from Research Council College Arts & Sciences Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

The innate immune response to Aspergillus fumigatus.
Despite the development of new treatments, the mortality due to invasive pulmonary aspergillosis remains above 50%, reaching 95% in certain situations. The battle against Aspergillus fumigatus involves several components of the pulmonary innate immune system: cells, mediators, and natural antifungal molecules involved in the recognition and elimination of the fungus, thereby preventing coloniza...
متن کاملZebrafish: model for the study of inflammation and the innate immune response to infectious diseases.
The zebrafish (Danio rerio) has been extensively used in biomedical research as a model to study vertebrate development and hematopoiesis and recently, it has been adopted into varied fields including immunology. After fertilization, larvae survive with only the innate immune responses because adaptive immune system is morphologically and functionally mature only after 4-6 weeks postfertilizati...
متن کاملInnate immune response to Salmonella typhimurium, a model enteric pathogen
The innate immune system provides the first line of defense against invading microorganisms by inducing a variety of inflammatory and antimicrobial responses. These responses are particularly important in the gastrointestinal tract, where the needs for efficient nutrient uptake and host defense collide. Many pathogens have evolved to specifically colonize the intestine, causing millions of case...
متن کاملImmune-deficient Drosophila melanogaster: a model for the innate immune response to human fungal pathogens.
We explored the host-pathogen interactions of the human opportunistic fungus Candida albicans using Drosophila melanogaster. We established that a Drosophila strain devoid of functional Toll receptor is highly susceptible to the human pathogen C. albicans. Using this sensitive strain, we have been able to show that a set of specific C. albicans mutants of different virulence in mammalian infect...

To elucidate the role of innate immunity in susceptibility to the animal model of multiple sclerosis, experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), we induced EAE by immunization with spinal cord homogenate (SCH) plus complete Freund adjuvant or carbonyl iron in 3 inbred rat strains. Lewis are considered "susceptible," PVG/c-Rt7a (PVG) as "semisusceptible," and Brown Norway (BN) as "resistan...
